THE JOYS OF BARNYARD MUSIC.

Through stories, and word illustrations Jon Garate shows you how to stop working your music, and start playing it. Music of the Barnyard variety is supposed to be fun, not a drudge.

Barnyard Music is a term that Jon came up with to describe a type of country/folk music that anyone can play if they want to. Most people have some kind of music locked away in their heart but just don't quite know how to set it free and find the joy of expressing it. This book not only shows the way, but the book in it'self is a fun read. It is not meant to be an instruction book on the mechanics of playing any instrument - that, you can get anywhere. This is a book of how to live life to it's fullest joy by learning how to develop and express your own particular dream, whether it be music or some other endeavor.

Here is a little excerpt from the book on the very subject of talent.
Talent: A particular and uncommon aptitude for some special work or activity - Noah Webster
I’ve heard so many people over the years say things like “I always wanted to play the (whatever) but I just don’t have any talent”. You’ve probably said something like that yourself at one time or another. I have to take issue with Mr. Webster and his dictionary, and I gotta set the record straight here. Nobody has talent. Talent is not something you have. It is something you get by doing whatever it takes to reach a point of doing that special work or activity uncommonly well. What I’m sayin’ here is that nobody is born with talent. The great masters of art – the great composers – the great musicians – they all had their struggles. Your favorite musician didn’t start out as good as he is right now. He had to go through the same struggles that you will have to go through to develop your talent. Either everybody has talent, or nobody has talent. That’s the way I see it. So what is it that makes the difference? I’ll tell you what it is. I’ll tell you exactly what it is. It is desire. Ninety percent of all talent is really desire. You don’t really need talent. You need desire, and that will drive you to develop a talent.

The Joys of Barnyard Music is disigned to help you stir that desire - to stoke it - to fan it into an unquenchable flame that can't be quenched.
